    It’s the Little Things…

God has taught me so much lately about this topic. He’s helped me to realize all the little things He brings into my life as sources of encouragement. So many times, people will go out of their way to say hi or write me a little note and it makes my whole day. Or I’ll come home and there will be a letter or e-mail from one of my CIT buds, and it will be the biggest encouragement. Just this morning, one of my dear friends brought me cookies and a note. It was one of the nicest things that could have happened, but it wasn’t a huge drawn out deal either. It was just one of those unexpected things that brings a smile to your face. Lately, there have been a few people who have sent me e-mails and cards that have come at exactly the right moments. It’s cool that God seems to know exactly what we need when we need it. And as a lot of you know, I’m going to be a cheerleader. And Sunday, one of my fellow cheerleaders came up and was super excited about it. It was such an encouragement and got me excited about it. Until that point, I had been dreading it like the plague. It’s funny how often the little things of life make your days the best. A smile from a friend, a note or e-mail of encouragement, even just a hello can make your day so much better. And funny thing is, it’s often the little things that ruin your day. So remember how important the little things are as you go throughout your day. Remember that one word or smile can make someones day, and one word or frown can also ruin someones day. It’s all about the little things.

    My Utmost For His Highest

“Beware of living according to your natural affections in your spiritual life. Everyone has natural affections-some people we like and others we don’t like. Yet we must never let those likes and dislikes rule our Christian life. Being a disciple means deliberately identifying yourself with God’s interests in other people. (John 13:34-35) The true expression of Christian character is not in good-doing, but in God-likeness.”

My Utmost for His Highest-September 20

I read that in my devotions last night, and it majorly convicted me. So often I chose to serve and show Christ-likeness to only those I like, not those who I may not like. However, God has called us to love all men, friends and enemies alike. So as you and I go throughout our day, we need to be continually seeking ways to serve ALL those around us.

    Kids!

I’m babysitting Mr. Harmless’ kids and thought I’d add something new to my blog. Kids are funny things you know, they have such an innocence and spirit about them. Take kindergarteners for instance, I eat lunch with them some days and they are so funny. Today I was trying to learn Chinese from one of them, and she kept laughing at me because I was saying the words wrong. Yet she can speak it fluently. They often remind of the simpleness of life, and how often I run around to busy to notice the little things. They are always so interested in you too, they always want to talk to you and sit by you. Matthew 18:3 says, “And he said: “I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” So as you go throughout your day, remember the simpleness of life, and enjoy the little things.

    Random Opening Thought

Eventually, my English class is going to do this as a project, but to ease my mind from studying I decided to start one. I will try to update it and add to it as often as possible.

I received a letter from a friend today and she mentioned getting to the point where she had no hope, and it got me thinking. Why do people often seem to get so down, there seems to be no way out? I’m sure God did not plan things this way, so I started looking. Psalm 130:7 says, “O Israel, hope in the Lord; For with the Lord there is lovingkindness, and with Him is abundant redemption.” I know in my life, I think I often get to the point of thinking there is no hope because my hope is in what I think I can or can’t do, but I need to put my hope in the Lord.

    I’m out..
